First Year Evasion [Open] « Thread Started on Aug 29, 2009, 2:49am »
Flying 90 miles an hour, Like a wild bat out of hell. (Singing) hallelujah with a rebel yell. Dancing with a little danger. Fast and hard I'm gonna ride, Praying I'm just gonna make it out alive.
Ariana sighed softly as she trudged up the wooden steps of the Gryffindor Seating, wondering why she had even let the brilliant idea of climbing up to sit in the stands cross her mind. She actually knew why, for some reason a bunch of dribbling First Years made it a point to hunt her down and ask her all about America, the pitch seemed to be the only safe place. She just wished there was some place less high up. ‘Don’t think about it Ari. Just like at home, don’t look up at where you’re soon going to be sitting and don’t fuckin’ look down at the ground and you won’t scream like a baby. Alright?’ She groaned softly at her pathetic mental coaching and gritted her teeth, telling herself that she was a witch God Dammit, a Country witch for Merlins sakes! She shouldn’t let a few stairs ruin her attempt at silence. She looked up and whimpered. “Make that a few times like a zillion.” She groaned. She shook her head and started walking again. “What would Caleb say if he saw me?” She wondered nostalgically.
“Ari’s afraid of stairs! Ari’s afraid of stairs!”
”I AM NOT!” She shrieked, closing her eyes tight and stomping her foot, in near tantrum mode. She opened her eyes wide and looked around; realizing Caleb was no where around. She blush as red as her scarf and took off almost running up the stair, stumbling a few times and cursing her skirt. She stumbled off the stairs and leaned over one of the benches, catching her breath for a few moments before she straightened, tugging at her robes and skirt. ”Well alright then.” She muttered in an official like tone before she turned and looked over the Pitch. For a moment it took her breath away, the beauty of it. She could see the Black Lake, it’s dark waters mysteriously beautiful, The Forbidden Forest, which she planned on visiting one day, despite the warning, and the pitch. She had always wanted to fly on a broom, but anything higher than a few feet in the air made her nauseous and she often passed out.
She groaned and sat back hard on her bottom as vertigo set in. She closed her eyes and gripped her skirts for a moment before she took a deep breath of cold air and exhaled, smiling as she pulled out “A Guide to Medieval Sorcery,” a congratulations present for getting Prefect and Gryffindor from her Cousin Hermione. She settled down in a corner and puller her knees up before she buried her nose into the numerous, worn out pages.

Scorpius had actually scouted the various seating areas of the Quidditch pitch quite frequently. He looked for ways he could plan pranks or just cause massive confusion. Hell, maybe he could trick one of his Beaters to smash a Bludger into the Gryffindor stands in the middle of a game. Scorpius, of course, would deflect any professor's questioning, explaining that he thought there had been a sneaky move by a Chaser, and Scorpius had merely seen wrong. It would be played off as an honest mistake, and there would be no problems at all. He liked when things worked out in his favor. It was an oddity that this idea was only hitting him now. Yet, the one he had right now was much better. If Scorpius could get enough, he had the idea of a giant dungbomb fiasco moments before Gryffindor's first game. Just set them all under the seats, and hope they don't go off too early. If it worked the way he hoped, it'd be almost too hilarious to miss.
At the moment, he was laying down on one of the benches, staring up at the sky. He was sure he heard footsteps in the distance, but students wandered about here all the time. Except, it was a shriek that caught his attention. Scorpius turned his head to look at some girl, who had appeared to turn a bright red. Oh boy, she would be fun to toy with. He watched her poor attempt at traversing the stairs. She seemed like tripping over the stairs probably would have looked better than this. Ah well, this could be fun. It was a surprise she hadn't seen him, then again, Scorpius seemed to have developed quite a knack for hiding in the open. Or this girl was just blind.
He watched slowly as the girl moved to a corner and pulled out a book. Any normal student would have just let her by. Not Scorpius Malfoy. No, there was something about this girl that needed to be annoyed. Probably that fact that she seemed foolish for screaming for no reason. Oh well, it really didn't take much to give him a reason. So, he slowly rose from his comfortable position on the bunch and took the small little walk over to stand in front of this girl. She seemed to be a little focused on the book. How nice. Scorpius stared at her for a moment, considering the best way to announce his presence. There was really only one. His hand reached down to grasp the top of the book. Pulling it out, he turned his back to her and started flipping through the pages on his own. "What the hell is this crap?" Every word was followed by the flipping of a page or two.

Ari’s eyes traced the paged eagerly, though she had read it a few times already. The book had been Hermione’s, handed down as kind of a personal gift, but then with her mother’s side of the family books were always personal. She gasped loudly as her book was suddenly removed from her line of view. Her head snapped up to follow the book and she was greeted with the view of some blond kid’s back. She glared, her anger increasing as he insulted her book. What kind of a person just walked up and stole a person’s book then insulted it. She glared and stood up, getting a little dizzy at the sudden level change. “It’s a book you insufferable dolt, maybe you should read one sometime.” She hissed, pulled her wand from her back and flicking it. “Accio book.” She snapped angrily, her anger causing the wrong book to fly into her hands. The fact that it wasn’t even hers was a bit confusing, but she didn’t let it deter her. She paused long enough to aim it at his head before she thought better and used a counter spell to send the book back.
She glared at him and moved so she was standing in front of him. The boy was Slytherin, that was glaringly obvious. And he wasn’t a prefect of any sort. That meant she had authority here. Ignoring the fact she was shorter than he was she straightened her spine. “Ten points from Slytherin for antagonizin’ a prefect.” She said clearly, wincing slightly as the Granger family connection sounded out in her tone. “Now. Give. It. Here.” She threatened, a step punctuating her every word. She still had her wand drawn, though she didn’t plan on using it. It was more that she had forgotten she had it in her grasp.
In the back of her mind she heard a small voice warning her not to look over, and she heeded that warning. If she looked over she’d probably end up grabbing onto the git that currently had her book. She kept her green eyes locked on him, glaring up at him. How was it she seemed to be a target for everyone’s attention this week? First years were curious, and anyone wearing green was instantly an enemy. The only thing that kept most people at bay was a threat of point deductions. What was wrong with these people? It was insane. She hadn’t said two words to a single person here and now she was either their instant target for jinxs or questions.

Scorpius smirked at the obvious insult thrown his way. She was obviously not a Slytherin, considering the manner she spoke in. In fact, he was almost sure she had to be a Gryffindor. She wouldn't talk to him in any other tone if she wasn't. This girl was probably allies with the Potters. Probably those blood-traitor Weasleys as well. That wouldn't be too much of a shock. It seemed, to him, that this school was sort of divided down this line. You were either with the Potters, or with Scorpius. That was how he saw things, and it actually seemed like an interesting thought. Lines drawn between the two, well, that always provided for entertainment. Speaking of the Potters, Scorpius hadn't actually run into one in quite a long time. Good, he liked it that way.
At the sound of the summoning spell, he had half-expected the book to slam into his chest trying to get back to its owner. Obviously this girl had aimed for the wrong book. What a surprise. He still kept his back to her, however, as he was hiding his own small bits of laughter. Yet, she seemed determined. Scorpius tilted his head up, cocking an eyebrow, when this girl moved to stand in front of him. He closed the book with a clap and held it in one hand. Oh boy would this be a good one. She was apparently a prefect, and was taking points from Scorpius, and Slytherin, as well. Well, that only made this so much more entertaining. "Me? Antagonizin' a prefect?" His voice almost mocked the girl's. "Malfoys don't antagonize prefects."
This girl must not have realized who she was talking to. So he had to clear it up for her by stating his last name. Not too much of a problem, although, the sight of her approaching him for her book was entertaining. With his free hand, he pointed to the ground near his feet. "Right here?" His pointing finger moved to another spot, a little farther down the stands. "How about over there." He lightly tossed the book towards the second spot. A frown appeared as Scorpius watched the book almost perfectly float down and land on a bench near the bottom. No ripped pages or anything. That was a shame. Ah, well, if this girl was afraid of heights, it'd be entertaining to watch her try and climb down the steps.
Scorpius turned his attention to look back at this prefect. He hadn't actually realized there was a wand on him. He smirked, a slightly mischievous look on his face. His right hand ripped his wand from its spot in his pocket, and he held it aloft towards her. "Want to play" He had absolutely no problem with blasting this girl off her fight, or out of the stands for that matter. She was obviously just trying to bother him, like all non-Slytherin prefects. It was interesting, however, to actually figure out who this girl actually was. She seemed relatively familiar to him. Well, her attitude seemed familiar. Kind of like something his dad used to talk about. What was the name. It currently escaped his thoughts, and that was going to bother him.
